Chuck Norris Bio
Carlos Ray Norris also known as “Chuck” Norris was born in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was names Carlos after his father’s minister Carlos Berry. His parents divorced when he was sixteen. Many described him as a shy and nonathletic in addition to his mediocre performance as a student. He joined the United States air force as an Air Policeman in 1958 and was sent to a US military base in South Korea. It was in South Korea that he acquired the nickname Chuck after training in Tang Soo Do. He earned a black belt and created his own style called Chun kuk Do.
After returning to the US and being discharged in 1962, he opened a chain or martial arts schools. In 1969, he won Karate’s triple crown for the most tournament wins of the year and was given the Fighter of the Year award by Black belt Magazine. He made his film debut in 1969 in the Dean Martin film “The Wrecking Crew” and subsequently appeared in many other films such as “Lone Wolf McQuade,” “The Octagon,” “Enter the Dragon” and more. He is also well known for his lead role in the television series ‘Walker, Texas Ranger.”
