Dakota Johnson Bio
Dakota Mayi Johnson is a model and actress born in Austin, Texas on October 9, 1989. In 1999, Johnson made her film debut in Crazy in Alabama where she and her half sister, Stella Banderas, played daughters to their real life mother, Melanie Griffith. The film was directed by Antonio Banderas who was her step father. In 2006, she was chosen as Miss Golden Globe 2006. She was the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in the history of the Globe awards.
After Johnson graduated from high school, she started her acting career with the William Morris Agency. She appeared in the hit film The Social Network. She has also appeared in Beastly, Ezna Sands’ film Theo, and So Yong Kim’s film For Ellen.
In March 2012, Johnson made her television debut. She was cast as Kate in the Fox comedy series Ben and Kate. The show was cancelled on January 25, 2013. Johnson then continued with her film career and appeared in the movie Need for Speed in 2014.
In 2014, she reunited with her former 21 Jump Street cast member Johnny Depp and played the mother of his child in the film Black Mass. Johnson then appeared in A Bigger Splas, set for release in 2015.
Johnson played Anastasia “Ana” Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, which was released in February 2015 and considered a box office success. Johnson has reached a new level of success after appearing in Fifty Shades of Grey.
In addition to her acting career, Johnson signed with IMG Models in 2006. Although acting is her primary work, she has since modeled for MANGO in 2009 and shot the “Rising Star” campaign for Australian fashion label.
